operation in November 1986, our daughter Jodie
Meredith joined
the Business
in 1993 studied Horticulture and is now an important
member of the
Management Team.
We were very honoured to receive "Grower of the Year" Award
in 2001.
Bill Watson
A Plumber by profession, starting own
Plumbing Business in 1972 which still operates from the same office
Connectors “the Plumbing People” Pty Ltd, and servicing the Brisbane area
with maintenance plumbing employing 2 full time plumbers. Very handy to have
a plumber on staff in a Nursery with all the hot water systems, sprinkling
systems, and drainage required, his skills have been well utilised over the
years.
A true Queenslander born in Maryborough and moved to Brisbane in 1961 and
lived here ever since.
Bill has been a member of the Management Committee of the NGIQ for 3 years
and President from 2004 – 2005 which has given him an insight into all
aspects of the Nursery Industry.
He has always been a community minded person and has been a Rotarian since
1994 continually helping others less fortunate. He has served his club as
President and was honoured as a Paul Harris Fellow in July 2000.
Bill is now a very proud grandfather of 7 beautiful girls and was very eager
to name our new Grevillea Molly after his eldest grand-daughter.
Marie Watson
Prior to opening the Plumbing Business Marie was employed for 10 years
by a Tap Manufacturing Company where she gained office skills which have
been advanced over the years by the introduction of Computers.
 Married to Bill for 30 years has run the office for the Plumbing
Business since 1972 and now the Nursery since 1986.
They have three children
Andrew who works in I.T. and lives in Brisbane, Jodie who works in the
Business with us and Penny who works in the Master Plumbers of Queensland
office as Events and Journal Convenor. They are all so different and a
constant source of amazement, surprise and pride.
Marie adores her seven
grand-daughters and is lucky enough to spend time with them nearly everyday.
Jodie
Meredith
Jodie has grown up in the Nursery Industry. When her school friends
were working at McDonalds, Jodie spent most of her weekends and school
holidays working in the Nursery. After leaving school Jodie went to
College and studied Business Management for 2 years while still
working part-time in the Nursery. Jodie then joined us full time in
1993.
She began studying Horticulture in 1997 which she enjoyed immensely
and has now completed Level 5. Jodie won the Vic Leavy Award for
Trainee of the Year in 1999.
Jodie is an extremely valuable member of our team learning every facet
of the Business so she can slot into any area where most needed - from
cutting plants, packing orders or helping customers both in person and
on the phone. Jodie has a vibrant personality and unlimited energy
which is vital for her work and her seven delightful daughters that
keep her very busy.
Marie O'Sullivan
Marie joined our team in February 1998 and has worked her way up to
becoming our Nursery Manager. Her role not only involves the day to
day organisation of the Nursery and the Staff, but also planning the
Annual Production Schedules, ordering seeds, cutting material and
tissue culture and co-ordinating customers requirements and forward
orders.
Marie has achieved Level 5 in Horticulture but her incredible plant
knowledge makes her an extremely valuable and essential member of our
team.
She also organises our Stand at the Spring Green Expo each year and
mans the stand along with Jodie helping our customers with her
friendly attitude and exceptional plant knowledge.
Marie is well respected by all our customers, other staff members and
Management, and she is an outstanding asset to our Business.
